Masterclass: Distress or De-stress? Navigating Stress Through Emotions

Stress is a normal part of life. It helps our hearts beat and muscles function. But when stress becomes counterproductive what can we do?

The relationship between stress and emotions is a fascinating topic with wide-ranging implications for mental health, well-being, and interpersonal relationships.

Stress is a phenomenon that exists in both living and nonliving parts of nature. It is what allows muscles to function, suspension bridges to stand, and plants to grow vertically. It is not positive or negative. But when stress exceeds the limits of a system it becomes strain. Strain is the point at which damage to the system begins to occur.

Stress is not a single emotion but is generated by a wide variety of them. Some of these emotions we think of as positive, like ambition and excitement. Others that generate stress we consider to be negative, but they nonetheless have a purpose and support us in their way.

If we want to understand the stress and distress we experience, we need to look for the emotion or emotions that are generating it and seek out the emotions that will relax or diminish stress when it is valuable to do so.

In this 90-minute Masterclass, Dan Newby will explore:

  • Valuable insights into the complex interplay between stress, emotions, and human behaviour
  • Ten emotions that generate stress
  • How and why these emotions amplify our stress levels
  • Ten emotions we can select to release or diminish stress
  • How we can generate those with intention

Dan will work with a volunteer to demonstrate how these questions can lead to new possibilities.

You will discover things a new approach to understanding and navigating stress and relaxation.

The cost is $25 and space is limited.

This session will not be recorded.

If you have questions please contact dan@schoolofemotions.world or sam@thesevacollective.co.

We look forward to seeing you on May 15th!
